Meet Dick

We provide value for our clients by helping the retired and soon to be retired plan for what in many cases will be a life in retirement that may equal or exceed the time they spent working. Working toward their goals is often very challenging. Asset Advisors, LLC is prepared to assist is in this journey. Helping you develop your “Retirement Roadmap” while, as fiduciaries, placing your best interests ahead of our own.

We do this first of all by avoiding proprietary products. We also focus on fee based solutions to your investment needs versus high commission and in many cases illiquid investments. Dick’s experience since entering the financial services industry in 1966 includes seven bear market cycles that suffered declines of 20% or more. We manage our clients with this experience as a guide by using a mix of irreplaceable capital and income based along with growth strategies.

Dick often uses the term “Painting a Picture” to describe the development of a plan for the client’s future.

Following graduation from Washington State University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science Degree, Dick moved to Bellingham. In 1966, he took his securities exams and insurance exams and affiliated with Frank Russell Company in Tacoma. The second Friday night of each month, he attended a meeting in Seattle and the theme was always helping his clients own a piece of the “Free Enterprise System” so we would always have it.

Always one to continue learning, Dick completed his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER(TM) certification in 1980 and earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) Designation in 2010. Continuing education is a requirement for maintaining these designations and Dick attends many industry meetings versus using online courses to meet these requirements.

Dick is a lifetime member of the Financial Planning Association having joined in 1976, member of Financial Institution Services, a Charter Member of the Ed Slott IRA Advisory Group, member of the Dent Advisor Group, member, past board member and Past President of Whatcom North Rotary since 1976, a Bellingham Executive Club member and board member, and numerous other local organizations.

Dick founded Asset Advisors, LLC in 1996. In May, 2015 he made the decision to join Carson Coaching and started the actual transition in September of 2015. As a member of Carson Coaching for over 10 years, he had observed thru semi-annual Alliance meetings the practice proficiency of the Carson Wealth Group. When offered a chance to become a Carson Partner, following a very extensive due diligence process, the decision to join Carson was made.

Family will always be important. Dick has been married to Fontene since 1983 and they share a blended family of five kids, grandkids and great grandkids. And because of the continued encroachment by government on our personal and professional lives, being involved in local political activities to protect our future is a high priority.
